Qingdao

Two weeks ago I took a trip to Qingdao with a group of 5 of my friends for the Chinese National Holiday. I guess it's like 4th of July weekend, in American terms. This city is home of the Tsingtao brewery, which is the most popular beer sold in China, at least in Shanghai. It was somewhat of a short trip, flying out Friday after work and flying back Sunday afternoon. Luckily for us it was only an hour flight (and really cheap). We stayed at the Huiquan Dynasty Hotel, which they said was a 5 star. You can see it was a 3. This city is beautiful, feels a lot like Irvine in a way. Beach city, really wide streets, built to be a big city one day. The bad thing is it felt so empty. When you travel during a holiday like this, all the “locals” end up traveling back to their hometowns, so the cities feel dead. Since we were only there for one full day, we decided to have a Saturday Fun Day. the day included; Early Drinking pre-noon, beach (not a beach-sesh), meeting of the Beijing Olympic Good-will Ambassador, awesome seafood lunch with $.75 pitchers (yes that is right), bowling, swimming, huge Peking Duck dinner, and a night out that ended at Feeling. We weren’t really “feeling” that place, but it was the only place with people in it. Plus they had the hottest Go-Go dancer I have ever seen. She might have been the hottest girl I have ever seen in my life. After feeling we headed back to the Hotel for some late night boozing in the hotel bar. The said it was open 24 hours, but when we got there, everyone was asleep in the bar. But being that they gave us so much sh*t when we checked in, and they PROMISED it was open 24 hours, we didn’t hesitate to wake them up and order some beers. About 35 drinks in (total day) we called it quits. Great day!

All-in-all a Great trip. Out of everywhere I have been, I would choose this as the place I would most want to go back to.
