LOST Update 10/19 Pre-Epidoe

While I write this, most of you are watching the latest episode of LOST. For that I envy you as I have to wait until Friday to watch it.

Some of you may have noticed that Claire Littleton wears a Chinese symbol around her neck. See Image Here. That symbol is “Ai” which means “Love”, as in “wo ai ni= I love you” which some of you may have heard before. I call attention to this because I have previously mentioned that Jack has a Chinese tattoo. See Image Here. As I said, this is Chinese Idiom meaning Free, Brave or Courageous. This in connection to the similarities of the DHARMA symbol and the I-Ching, is very interesting.

Something I am working on is a Character Connection matrix. I am looking for instance wear the castaways’ paths may have crossed before the day of the flight. If we use Airport encounters, it does get more interesting, however for sake of argument, I am sticking to pre-airport encounters.
1) Jin sees Hurley on TV while delivering his first message:
2) Sawyer and Boone are both in the Police station (could Kate have been there too? And remember Jack had to go to the Police Station to look for his Father, could he have been there also?)
3) Hurley and Locke shared the same boss, Randy
4) Sawyer met Jack’s Father (indirect connection)
5) Claire and Michael may have met in the same Lawyer’s office (I need to check, but seemed the same)
Some that I think could come up:
Locke had surgery in Jack’s Hospital
Jack used Boone’s wedding company for his wedding

Another thing I am working on is the fact that most LOST members did not “want” to be on that flight. What I mean is that they either did not purchase those tickets themselves or were forced on the flight.
1) Claire is given the tickets by the Psychic
2) Kate is extradited to the States
3) Sayid is forced on that plane by the CIA
4) Sawyer is deported (as I remember)
5) Shannon is “brought” back to LA by Boone
6) Locke is not allowed to go on the Walkabout, forced to fly home
7) Sun did not plan on being on that flight, since she was going to leave Jin at the Airport
8) Walt is forced to live with Michael.

What sparked this was the episode where Jenny (I believe) drowns in the ocean, when Boone and Jack try to save her. Kate mentions that “she wasn’t supposed to be on the flight” and that she had had some SCUBA accident and was grounded.

Where this all ties up, I am not sure. However, to disprove my own point, Jack begged to be on that flight so he could burry his Father.

If you have any information to add, please post it here or in the Rockhampalace Forums.

Qingdao

Two weeks ago I took a trip to Qingdao with a group of 5 of my friends for the Chinese National Holiday. I guess it's like 4th of July weekend, in American terms. This city is home of the Tsingtao brewery, which is the most popular beer sold in China, at least in Shanghai. It was somewhat of a short trip, flying out Friday after work and flying back Sunday afternoon. Luckily for us it was only an hour flight (and really cheap). We stayed at the Huiquan Dynasty Hotel, which they said was a 5 star. You can see it was a 3. This city is beautiful, feels a lot like Irvine in a way. Beach city, really wide streets, built to be a big city one day. The bad thing is it felt so empty. When you travel during a holiday like this, all the “locals” end up traveling back to their hometowns, so the cities feel dead. Since we were only there for one full day, we decided to have a Saturday Fun Day. the day included; Early Drinking pre-noon, beach (not a beach-sesh), meeting of the Beijing Olympic Good-will Ambassador, awesome seafood lunch with $.75 pitchers (yes that is right), bowling, swimming, huge Peking Duck dinner, and a night out that ended at Feeling. We weren’t really “feeling” that place, but it was the only place with people in it. Plus they had the hottest Go-Go dancer I have ever seen. She might have been the hottest girl I have ever seen in my life. After feeling we headed back to the Hotel for some late night boozing in the hotel bar. The said it was open 24 hours, but when we got there, everyone was asleep in the bar. But being that they gave us so much sh*t when we checked in, and they PROMISED it was open 24 hours, we didn’t hesitate to wake them up and order some beers. About 35 drinks in (total day) we called it quits. Great day!

All-in-all a Great trip. Out of everywhere I have been, I would choose this as the place I would most want to go back to.

4 8 15 16 23 42

Ok, now I found some crazy LOST stuff to show you guys.

First off, how much does the DHARMA logo look like the I CHING symbol? OMG a little too much if you ask me. I Ching happens to be the oldest of the Chinese classic texts, describing an ancient system of cosmology and philosophy which is at the heart of most Chinese cultural beliefs. Also at the heart of Chinese beliefs is Feng Shui (Feng= Wind, Shui=Water) So it is known as Wind and Water way. What does Feng Shui have to do with LOST you say? Aside from the castaways building their huts in a Feng Shui manner, I would say this looks a little like Desmond's Dome if you ask me.

The Connections I am not sure of, but Jack's tattoos may have something to do with all of this. Being here in China may have one advantage. His Tattoo is Cheng-Yu or a four-character Chinese idiom. His is 鹰击长空 which has a literal meaning "An eagle flys up the sky". The essential meaning is "free and brave".

Oh, if you were wondering about the Snowman Joke Desmond was referring to, here is a link:

I want to watch the episode where Boone goes to the plane again. The communication with the radio, I would like to hear that again. Did THAT plane have a DHARMA logo on it? Any of the boxes or objects?

4 8 15 16 23 42

Without stealing from Dell’s thunder with his Lost Updates, I wanted to express a few of my own. First off, some things about the numbers:

4 8 15 16 23 42:
1.It seems many aspects of the flight were set to those numbers. Flight 815 Gate 23 42 Rows. Where the 4 and 16 come in, I am not sure. Maybe the dates or time of the Fight?
2.(4+8+15+16+23+42)= 108. The amount of Minutes in the countdown.
3.Locke is shown moving the book 'The Turn of The Screw' by Henry James. That happened to be his 15th book. Henry James was born April 15th (4/15).

Some other interesting things I have found while searching various message boards.
1.Both the Shark in Episode 2-2 and the Airplane’s tail had the Dharma logo on it.
2.The People in the boat Appear to be the Same as the Scientists in the “orientation” video
3.The same women in the boat (the Blonde one) is spotted along with the large black guy as being one of the “others” in Episode 2-3

My thoughts on the upcoming episode, in reference to the preview we saw in regards to Jin speaking English. I don’t think Jin actually has spoken English this whole time. We ALREADY had that with Sun. There is no way they go back to that trick again, it is lame. I think either it was a dream sequence, notice the bright lighting in the background and NO accent? Even if he DID speak English this whole time, he would have an accent, like they have Sun use when she speaks (Most likely). The other possibility is that it occurs in some other dimension or reality. A lot of theories out there are saying that this is dealing with two different times at the same moment, ala quantum physics. All of the subtle differences in the two versions of the Hatch sequence, different lamps, no exercise bike, different arrangements etc, lead some people down this path of thinking.

Rumors out there are that a Female will die before the Holiday. I am saying now, if it is Sun, I will stop watching the show.
